The transition of Scholastic Mind & Education (SME) to Scholastic International School Myanmar (SISM) marks a significant milestone in our journey towards providing quality education in Myanmar. Founded during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, SME emerged as a response to the need for engaging and accessible online learning for students from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4.

Recognizing the growing demand for alternative education options, I embarked on the mission of creating captivating lessons tailored to meet the needs of homeschooling students who found themselves disengaged from traditional schooling methods. Additionally, I offered full-time tutoring for IGCSE subjects, catering to the needs of students who had transitioned to homeschooling.

SME operated in two distinct segments—an innovative morning session dedicated to homeschooled students and evening sessions offering tutoring and after-school extracurricular classes. As the demand for our services grew, we expanded our team, recruiting experienced educators from the UK, Australia, and Singapore to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning.

After successfully running SME online for 1.5 years, I took a bold step forward by establishing our current campus located at 56B Inya Myaing Street, Bahan, Yangon, Myanmar, in February 2023. In just a few months, we welcomed over 200 students through our doors, a testament to the growing recognition of our commitment to excellence in education.

Throughout our journey with SME, it became increasingly evident that there existed a significant gap in the provision of quality education in Myanmar at an affordable price. This realization fueled our ambition to transition SME into a full-fledged international school, thus giving rise to Scholastic International School Myanmar (SISM)—a secondary school dedicated to delivering the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus alongside our own exclusive and esteemed Scholars Programme, renowned for its ambitious, innovative and trailblazing approach to education.

The evolution from SME to SISM embodies our unwavering dedication to providing accessible, high-quality education that empowers students to excel academically and prepares them for success in an increasingly globalized world. We are excited to continue this journey of growth and transformation, as we strive to make a meaningful impact on the educational landscape of Myanmar and beyond.
